RESULTS FROM THE GOLDEN ROCK REGATTA

In last October's newsletter, we wrote an article encouraging people to sign up for The Golden Rock Regatta, held every November, in St Maarten. The organizers kindly sent us this article showing how the regatta ended!
Let's see if we cant get more American entries in GRR2007!

Last Minute invitation leads to US victory in the Golden Rock Regatta 2006

From the beginning it was always foremost in the minds of the organisers to get US participation in the GRR so an invite was sent to the Manhattan Sailing Club, home of Dennis Conner, America’s most famous yachtsman. An immediate response from the Club Commodore, Michael Fortenbaugh led to the sponsoring of a Moorings 505 by Windward Adventures. The Club membership was approached and within a very short time the boat was oversubscribed. Tim O’Brien, North Cove Marina Manager, was appointed skipper of the first team and Chris Land led a second group on a GibSea 43.
