FACEBOOK. WE DO IT DIFFERENTLY
Let us know if we are on the right track, and vote on which of the new social media you enjoy using most
You told us we should do it and we have! Our new Facebook page is up and running, but we have put considerable thought into how best to explore this new medium. What information do you want to see and how do to we make it interesting to a wide range of readers, so they will want to become 'fans'? How do we stop posts becoming purely promotional, counterproductive or just plain wacky?
By keeping access open, we feel content will be more interesting to readers as posts will be submitted by a wide range of people and not just by our staff.
If you are a bareboat or crewed charterer, we are hoping that you will post stories about your trip and what you particularly enjoyed. You could give praise for a particular crew, boat or company or mention a favorite anchorage. Many readers will be first timers considering a charter and would welcome any advice you might have.
Boat crews could describe a charter or event, report island news, describe a favorite bay or establishment, and give helpful advice. To keep this enjoyable reading, we ask that boat crews and owners please avoid strong self promotion (specials, URLs, 'we're the best') and let us add your link and details directly below your post as a comment. Take a look at past posts and you will see what we mean. If you do have a special, email us so we can promote it properly and add it to our 'specials page' on our website.
Our page is in its early stages and we really want your advice and suggestions on how best to use it and keep it interesting, positive and informative for all.
So take a moment to go to our Facebook page and if you are a member, log in, hit the 'become a fan' button and start writing!
You do have to belong to Facebook (ie have a page of your own) to view our page. If you haven't already, now might be the time to sign up and join the millions already using it!
DO YOU USE ANY OF THE NEW SOCIAL MEDIA SCHEMES? TAKE PART IN OUR POLL AND READ HOW OTHERS VOTED. FEEL FREE TO ADD COMMENTS.
