We have quoted Elizabeth's letter in full. Elizabeth and Jim chartered 'The Dove' in June, 2003

I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our vacation on 'The Dove'. We started out in Antigua, and sailed to Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Barth, and St. Martin. We found her to be a comfortable boat, and Larry and Mary were excellent hosts. They coped extremely well with having two guests named Jim at the same time! They were friendly and had lots of good stories, but were not at all intrusive. The cabins were pleasant and well ventilated, so that air conditioning wasn't really needed. We spent most of our time awake on deck or in the cockpit, although the saloon was a good venue for a game of hearts when the wind on deck started blowing the cards.

Larry and Mary are excellent cooks. The culinary highlight was a tuna which Larry caught off the back of the boat while we were underway and served to us some four hours later, partly as sashimi and partly sautèed with sesame seeds. There was great variety to the food throughout the week and they cheerfully accommodated our food preferences. (Although they thought iced tea was an unusual drink!)

'The Dove' was really fun under sail. My husband enjoys steering, and he got to do a good bit of that. The boat moves nicely through the water, and we enjoyed our passages between islands. Larry found pleasant and comfortable anchorages at each stop. We also found him helpful in suggesting places to go and things to do on the various islands.
As you may know, we had a contretemps the last night. We took Larry and Mary to dinner in St. Martin and when we returned, the outboard motor had been stolen from the dinghy. Larry handled this with great competence and calmness. He recruited a man from a neighboring boat to help bring us back to 'The Dove'. Then, he worked out a plan for getting us to the dock early the next morning so we could catch our plane. We were really impressed with the way he dealt with this mishap--the mark of a true professional.

We'd be glad to sail with Larry again if the opportunity presents itself. Please feel free to pass this letter on to him and other prospective clients of 'The Dove'.

Very truly yours,

Elizabeth C.
