CONGRATULATIONS GORDON - on selling your 4,000th bareboat charter with Ed Hamilton & Co.
by Ed
February 2006

Much to his embarrassment, as his 4,000th bareboat charter confirmed on February 15th at 12:15 p.m., Lynne, Heather, Emily, Kim, Barbara and Ed all surprised Gordon with a card, a decadent cake and a banner over this desk. (Jackie was away, chartering in the VI).

Personally, I would like to say a big thank you to Gordon. From the early days, when we didn't have a team of 5 brokers, Barbara and I know from experience how difficult it is to juggle phone calls all day and answer such an incredible variety of questions, while keeping a smile on your face. He manages to take it all in stride, always keeping his unique sense of humor. Judging from the comments we receive, he really has helped thousands of charter guests find the boat that best fits their needs.

He would be the first to want to also mention Lynne, who helps him arrange hotels, contracts, flights and other paperwork, as she does with all our brokers.

Gordon was already sailing when he was 7 years old. He started crewing and later skippering a variety of yachts, mostly in the 44-80' range. He sailed throughout the Eastern Seaboard and The Caribbean.

Trained as a yacht surveyor, he has an incredible wealth of knowledge, covering sailing and power yachts of all sizes. He was Principal Surveyor and Vice-President of Johnson Associates for 4 years, performing surveys on pleasure and commercial craft up to 250'.

In 1988 he joined Robinhood Marine Center, as Yacht Service Manager, eventually becoming Yard Operations Manager. Owned by the founder of Cape Dory Yachts, this is a well-known yard in the area, with skilled craftsman capable of almost any marine project. There have been many different types of boats built here, including the Intrepid line of sailboats.

As a hobby, Gordon has always enjoyed building and restoring boats. His latest project is a 1953, 24' mahogany launch. Ask him about his collection of vintage outboards!

Wendy, his wife of 28 years, is sales assistant at Robinhood. Together they live in Bath, where Gordon has held various positions on the city's government.

Thanks again Gordon.

In the same vein, last December's sales for Hamilton & Co. were the highest they have ever been for this month in the history of the company. Well done everyone!
