April 2005 New Boat News,
by Gordon

There isn't a lot of new boat news this time around, but here are a few items of note.

TMM has announced that they will add one of the Lagoon 43 powercats to their fleet in the Belize. This is very exciting as she will be the first powerboat available in that area. As previously reported this is an interesting yacht with 4 cabins and 4 heads. The aft cabins are alike and are light and airey. The forward cabins are generous enough in size, each with a cozy head. The salon isn't what I would call large, but it is large enough. So much time is spent in the cockpit and on deck, it really doesn't matter much on charter anyway. The bridge is a bit small but she certainly makes up for it in other areas.

While we are on the subject of Belize I can't remember if we mentioned that TMM has a nice little Jeanneau 32 monohull available there. This model actually won a Cruising World magazine "Boat of the Year" award in 2002. For a couple or a small family this is a great little yacht which features a swing keel to help navigate the shallows common in Belize waters. She has two cabins and one head, and the salon converts as well.

The Catamaran Company in Tortola and TMM in St. Vincent are both adding the exciting new Lagoon 440 4 cabin. The Catamaran Company already had the 3 cabin owners version so this will round out their fleet of 4 cabin 4 head cats. Several new features on these boats make them true standouts. The helm station is serarate from the cockpit and raised for excellent visability. The cockpit is well shaded with a permanant bimini and there is a unique sunken cockpit behind the trampoline, which easily seats 4 to 5. The interiors are beautifully designed and finished with varnished bulkheads and trim. All the cabins and heads are generous in size and comfortable. These yachts are likely to be tough to come by, so early booking is a good idea.

Finally here is some old-New Boat News. Last December Sunsail added a Beneteau 57 to their fleet in Tortola. This yacht is the queen of their Platinum line of yachts and features air conditioning, a generator and an impressive list of other equipment including a TV/DVD player and an ice maker! She features 4 double cabins each with a head, plus a single cabin for the required skipper. For more information on this or any of the other yachts mentioned above, give us a call.
