Greetings friends,

This month has caught me a bit off guard. My wife and I married off our son a couple of weeks ago, so I'm still a little numb from that whole thing. I don't have a lot of bareboat news to report, but certainly will next month. I am headed for Tortola and St. Thomas this week, for my regular inspection of the companies and boats. At the moment it looks like many of the boats will be in while I'm there, which is of course the object of the exercise. (Yes, that is why I go in August, instead of the infinitely more attractive February, when it's about 12 degrees here in Maine.)

Horizon Yacht Charters has put their new 2006/2007 rates in effect as of August 1st. Changes are quite minor so not to worry. Horizon has announced that they will be adding 2 new Bavaria 39's. The first boat will be ready for November bookings, the second will follow later. These are a bit more performance oriented and carry better water capacity (135 gallons) than some of their similar sized sisters.

Since my last report TMM has added another new boat to their Tortola fleet, a 4 cabin 4 head (plus crew cabin) Cyclades 50. All I can say is, this yacht is LOADED! Try A/C and gen-set, electric halyard winch, bow thruster, microwave, inverter and a 12' dinghy with 15HP. She is scheduled to be ready to go in late January. Hold on now, the line forms right behind me.

If you have a special interest in any specific yachts in The Virgin Islands, please give me a call next week and I will give you an up to date overview. Next month I'll have a full report on my trip, as well as an update on BVI Yacht Charters' new base location in Port Purcell, plus any other interesting news. Bon-Voyage to me!
